   From the preface: "One hundred years ago [1787]... Veach Williams lived in Lebanon, Conn., surrounded by all of his eleven children save two who had died in infancy."  Veach Williams was a descendant, in the fifth generation, of the original immigrant of this Williams line, Robert Williams of Roxbury, Mass.  Veach Williams was born in 1727 and served as an officer in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.  Veach's wife Lucy was a daughter of William Walsworth of Groton, Conn., by his wife Mary Avery.
