The Usher family, in this country, was founded by two brothers, Hezekiah and Robert, who came to Massachusetts prior to 1638.  Hezekiah became the more prominent.  He was made freeman at Cambridge, as appears in the record, March 14, 1638.  Robert Usher, the brother of Hezekiah, soon went to the Connecticut Colony.  He was admitted freeman at New Haven, July 1, 1644. He removed to Stamford, where he resided until his death.

Included on this disc is an eleven page reprint of the Usher genealogy that was first published in the New England Historic and Genealogical Society Register in October , 1869.  It is titled "A BRIEF GENEALOGY OF THE USHER FAMILY OF NEW ENGLAND" by W. H. Whitmore.
