Archibald Steele, b.c. 1728 in Scotland, Ireland, or England, migrated from Ireland to America and settled in York District, South Carolina, just southwest of and near Fishing Creek, not far from what is now (1900) known as Starr's Ford.
He married Agnes, possible maiden name of Edwards or Starr. They had five sons: John, b.c. 1758 in Ireland; Joseph, b.c. 1760 in Ireland; William, b.c. 1762 in Ireland; James, b.c. 1765 in Ireland or America; and Robert, AKA Robin, b. 7 Sept. 1767 in Lancaster County, Penn. Married in 1796 Martha Starr in York County, South Carolina. They had 7 children.
