    This book is an index of all known individuals with the surname Davis who have resided in the state of North Carolina in the years between 1660 and 1899; approx. 10,800 names. This index was compiled over a 25 year period by the founder of the Davis Clearing House of Kirkwood, Missouri, Dorothy "Kit" Davis-Smith and her #1 assistant, Mary Lou Tucker. The data was gathered from hundreds of sources and researchers, then entered into a computer database which now numbers approximately 11,215 entries. This book is a printout of those Davis entries, arranged in alphabetical order, and is quite likely the most extensive compilation of Davis data for North Carolina in existence.

    The print version includes all the Davis heads-of-households extracted from the 1850 federal census of North Carolina.
