The book is 94 pages, soft cover with a plastic comb binding, names are listed alphabetically, first by groom's surname, and then by bride's surname; and priced at $18.98 plus $3.99 shipping & handling charge. (Add $1.00 S&H for each additional volume ordered.)
This book contains a listing of marriage bonds before 1851, after 1851 marriage certificates were issued. These are on file in the North Carolina state archives.
It is suggested original records be examined for more information than is given herein. Bonds often will give the name of others, such as family members of the groom’s or the bride's family. Also, bondsmen, and person performing the ceremony may be listed.
Although entries have been proofread there may be mistakes. The records were very hard to read and some names were spelled several ways. There has been no attempt made to correct spelling or change dates. Names may appear as many as four times. If there was a question - a question mark will follow the entry. The dates given may be the date of application or date of filling. Most ceremonies followed within a matter of days, but some are off as many as six or seven years. These are not in error, but as they appeared on record.
Please check all spelling variations.
Grooms are listed in alphabetical order with cross-index for the brides.
