Its history prior to its incorporation as a separate town was identified wholly within the town of Norwich.The town of Lisbon lies on the north border of New London County and is bounded on the north by Windham County, on the east by Griswold, on the south by Preston, and on the west by Norwich and Sprague. It was organized May 1786 from Norwich. In 1861 Sprague was formed from parts of Lisbon and Franklin. When researching ancestors from Lisbon be sure to check the records of these other towns. Total area: 16.6 sq. miles. Population: est. 4,072. Principal industry: agriculture.
