     Joseph Kelley, about whose descendants this book is written, was born about 1690 and was an early settler of Norwich, Connecticut.  His wife was Lydia Caulkins.  Joseph was a shipbuilder in Norwich.  Five children are credited to Joseph and Lydia Kelley; four sons and one daughter.  The descendants are accounted for to the sixth generation.  Collateral families mentioned in this book are:
