This book details the history of the Hanna family in Ireland and the life and descendants of Robert Hanna. He was born in 1753 and immigrated to the new world with his parents in 1763. They settled in Bucks and Chester Counties, Pennsylvania. There he married and with his wife and eldest son removed to Campbell County, Virginia in 1779 where he was instrumental in the founding and planning of the city of Lynchburg. Eight more children were born to the couple in Virginia. Robert Hanna's wife's sister married James Monroe, 5th president of the United States. The Hannas and the Monroes were closely aligned in Virginia politics.
