Actually, two books in one. The first, "Memorials of the Scottish House of Gourlay" by Rev. Charles Rogers describes the early history of the family.  The second book concerns the original immigrant to New England, William Gurley.

WILLIAM GURLEY, of Northampton, Mass., afterwards of Coventry and Mansfield, Conn., was born in Inverness, Scotland, in 1665, and came with the family of Rev. Solomon Stoddard from England to Northampton, Mass., in 1679, at the age of 14 years; in whose family he was brought up and educated.  William Gurley married Hester Ingersoll in 1684, daughter of John and Abigail (Bascom) Ingersoll. Abigail Bascom was daughter of Thomas Bascom from England.  Hester Ingersoll was born Aug. 3, 1663.
William Gurley was accidentally drowned in the Connecticut River May 1, 1687, at the age of 22 years.  William and Hester had one son, Samuel Gurley, born in 1687.
