This is NOT the family of automobile fame, Henry Ford. However the original immigrant of this family was named Henry Ford. He settled on the north bank of the Potomac River a few miles from Hagerstown, Maryland. He had 7 children, beginning with son James, born in 1771. In all there were 5 sons and 2 daughters. His wife's maiden name was Rachel Gillan. Not much is known of her family.
In addition to the genealogy of his ancestors, the author, a medical doctor, includes a very interesting chapter detailing his opposition to the use of tobacco. (See page 213.)
