Nathaniel Foote, the original immigrant of his family was born in England about 1615.  He married in England, Elizabeth Deming.  They immigrated to New England and became one of the founding settlers of Wethersfield, in the Connecticut Colony.  The first mention of his name in extant records occurred in 1633, when he took the oath of freeman in Massachusetts. Thereafter, he removed to Wethersfield and died there in 1644. His widow afterward married Thomas Welles, magistrate, who eventually became governor of the colony.

Pasco Foote: There is no evidence that connects Pasco Foote of Salem, Mass. to Nathaniel Foote.  He was settled in Salem before 1646 when he received a grant of land there.  His descendants are detailed starting with his children: John, Malachi, Samuel, Elizabeth, Mary, Isaac, Pasco Jr., and Abigail.  The descendants of these individuals are traced for nine generations.

John Foote, of New York City, was born in Brandon, co. Cork, Ireland, and resided in New York by 1788.  He married Lydia Lock and they had seven children.

Others receiving mention in the book are: Thomas Foote of Adams County, Ohio; John Foote of Montgomery County, Indiana; Simeon Foote, of Lenox County, Penn., and Richard Foote of Virginia.
