This book contains the genealogy of seven generations of the descendants of John Eliot, commonly called "The Apostle to the Indians", and his wife Sarah Hopcott in New England.  There are 416 individuals named in this genealogy.

John Eliot was born in England in 1604.  He arrived in Boston, Mass. in 1631 with the party of immigrants led by Governor Winthrop.  He was immediately made pastor of the First Church of Boston.  Before departure to New England he had arranged to marry, Anne Mountfort, and she followed him to Boston in 1632.  Later in that year they were married in Roxbury.  Shortly thereafter he became the pastor of the church there, and he remained there until his death sixty years later.

During this time he was ardently engaged in the civilization and conversion of the native populations of the region.   He had five sons and one daughter. He died in Roxbury in 1690 at the age of 86 years.
