1. John1 Davis was born 1759 in Granville Co., NC, and died 1813 in Morgan Co., Ga. He married Nancy Patterson between 1779 - 1780 in North Carolina, daughter of Smith Patterson. She was born about 1761 in possibly Granville Co, NC, and died 1820 in Morgan Co., Ga.

Notes for John Davis:
He was a soldier during the Revolutionary War; serving as a Private in Captain Hadley's company of North Carolina militia. He removed to Morgan Co., Georgia sometime following the War. His will was dated 27 Sept 1813, and proved in Morgan County Court 17 Jan 1814. According to one source, he and his wife are buried in a corner of the yard on the homestead of their son, George Cook Davis, which still stands, on Davis Academy Road, near Rutledge, in Morgan Co., Ga.
