     His name, Isaac Cummings or Comings, begins appearing in the records as early as 1639.  He was born about 1601 and his immigration to New England probably occurred between 1630 and 1638.  The name of his wife is not known.  He had four known children, two sons and two daughters.  His will was dated 1677.  The descendants recorded in the book go to the tenth generation.

     Also covered in this book are separate and possible related individual and families, they being: Isaac Cummings, 1719-1746; Isaac, of Litchfield, N.H.; Leonard Cummins, of Litchfield, N.H.; Elizabeth Cummings, who married Asa Davis; Elizabeth Cummings, who married Jacob Jewett; John Comins, of Woburn and Oxford; Douglas, Massachusetts Cummings families. 

     Families whose relation is untraced: Dartmouth, Mass. Cummingses; a Standish, Maine family; a Prospect, Maine family; a Coventry, Conn. families; James and Betsy (Chappell) Cummings; Aaron and Mary (Dean) Cummings; Dr. Thomas Cummings of Leesburg, Va. and Ohio; Benjamin and Polly (Cox) Cummings; William and Jemima (Wiltse) Comins; Francis and James Cummings of Putney, Vermont; John and James Cummings of Cecil Co., Maryland; John and Charles Cummings, lived in the South; William Cummings of Talbot Co., Maryland; and some Pennsylvania families.
