This book is concerned with the descendants of William Cornwall who was born in England, and was a member of the bodyguard of King Charles I.  The first mention of his name in New England is on the list of inhabitants of Roxbury (Massachusetts Colony) prepared by Rev. John Eliot in 1633.  By 1639 he was residing in a house partially constructed on the "Souldier's Field", a choice tract reserved for the veterans of the Pequot War.  His second wife was Mary (____) and the probable mother of his children mentioned in his will.   His will was titled "Last Will and Testament of Sergeant William Cornwall of Middletown", where he died in 1678.
