     William1 Chandler and his wife, Annis, settled in Roxbury, Mass. in 1637.  They came from England with four of their five children.  Their last child, Sarah2, being the only one whose birth was recorded in Massachusetts.  The other four children were: Hannah2, b.c. 1629, m. (1) George Abbott, (2) Rev. Francis Dane of Andover; Thomas2, b. 1630, m. Hannah Brewer; William2, m. (1) Mary Dane (or Dean) of Ipswich, (2) Bridget Henchman; John2, m. Elizabeth Douglas; Sarah2, b. Roxbury, m. (1) William Cleaves, (2) ____ Wilson, (3) Ephraim Stephens, (4) ____ Allen.
     It is the more than 4,900 descendants of William and Annis Chandler of Roxbury, Massachusetts who are recorded in this book.
