This book details some of the known descendants of Thomas BURPEE who settled in Rowley, Essex Co., Massachusetts and subsequent generations who moved to New Brunswick, Canada.

In this genealogy of the BURPEE family, daughter's husband's names are listed when known, however their children are not listed.  There is one exception.  The children of Elizabeth A. BURPEE who married Thomas B. CHENEY in the 6th generation are listed.  This book contains the names of 525 BURPEEs in the first eight generations from the original immigrant.

Generation No. 1

    1. Thomas² BURPEE (Thomas¹) was born 03 Sep 1639 in England, and died 01 Jun 1701 in Rowley, Essex Co., Massachusetts. He married (1) Martha Cheney before 1650 in Massachusetts, daughter of John CHENEY and Martha SMITHE. She was born about 1629 in Lincolnshire, England, and died 24 Jun 1658 in Rowley, Essex Co., Massachusetts. He married (2) Sarah KELLY 15 Apr 1659 in Rowley, Essex Co., Massachusetts, daughter of John KELLY and Nancy BISHOP. She was born 12 Feb 1640/41 in Newbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts, and died 25 Dec 1713 in Rowley, Essex Co., Massachusetts.

    Thomas Burpee, immigrant ancestor, came from England to Massachusetts about 1644. He was settled in Rowley in 1651. There his first wife, Martha (Cheney) Burpee, was buried June 24, 1658. His second wife was Sarah, daughter of John Kelly, of Newbury, Massachusetts, who was born February 12, 1641, married, April 15, 1659. Thomas Burpee died in Rowley, June 1, 1701, and his wife Sarah, December 25, 1713. Children by first wife: Hannah, born March, 1655; John, November 16, 1656; Sarah, May 21, 1658. Children by second wife: Sarah, February 15, 1660-61; Thomas, December 25, 1663; Mary, baptized October 24, 1675.
