   Deacon John Bridge came from England, a widower, and settled in Cambridge, Mass., in 1632.  He married second, 1658, in Cambridge, Mrs. Elizabeth Saunders, the widow of Martin Saunders.  He had two sons by his first wife, Matthew and Thomas.  Eight generations of their descendants are detailed in this book.  He died about Sept., 1665 in Cambridge.

   Included in this book is a short genealogy of the ancestors of U. S. president James A. Garfield.  He was a descendant of Elizabeth (Bridge) Garfield, second wife of Captain Benjamin Garfield of Watertown, Mass.

   Also in this book is a three generation genealogy of the descendants of Colonel William Lithgow, whose son Arthur married Martha Bridge, a great grand-daughter of John Bridge.
