     There is no index to the names in the genealogy, but there is a table of contents of sorts.  The page number where the head of each family discussed is listed following the preface to the book.  

    The progenitor of the family in this country was David Brainerd of Hartford, Conn. and later, Haddam, Mass.  He married twice, first to Hannah Spencer, and then to the widow, Hannah Saxton.   His eight children were all of his first wife.  He died in 1715, and his sons Daniel, James, Joshua, William, Caleb, Elijah, and Hezekiah, all had children.
