This book details the history of the Bowen name in New England as originating with Griffith Bowen who immigrated from the parish of Llangenydd, county of Glamorgan, in South Wales to Boston in 1638. He with his wife Margaret (Fleming) had ten children; three sons and seven daughters. He was apparently a very wealthy man as he appears in some records as "Griffith Bowen of London, and sometimes of Boston". He made several business trips back and forth between New England, Wales and England. There is no lack of documents pertaining to the business dealings of Griffith Bowen.
