The town of Barnstable is located in Barnstable County, which comprises almost all of Cape Cod. It is among the oldest of settlements in New England.
The first two volumes of town records were originally published in the Mayflower Descendant Magazine beginning with volume 1 in 1899 and continued through volume 34 in 1937.
This book contains the records of births, marriages, and deaths found among all the other records of the town's business and extracted there from. Births, deaths, and marriages are intermingled in a rough alphabetical order, with the births grouped together in families.
Approximately 7,200 names of Barnstable's earliest residents are recorded in these books.
