The immigrant progenitor of this Adams family was Francis Adams, son of Richard, who was born in England in 1677. He arrived at New England with his sister, Jemima, in about 1692. Upon arrival he learned that his father, Richard, had died shortly before their arrival. Jemima immediately returned to England, but Francis stayed. In time he married Mary Buck and they had 7 children.
