     It is believed that this James Cock immigrated first to Bermuda and then to Southold, Long Island arriving sometime between 1648 and 1658.  His name appears on an early map showing the location of the plots of the inhabitants during that period of time.  There was a large settlement of Quakers there and he was known to be a follower of that religion.  James Cock's will is recorded with the date of July 3, 1699.  He had nine children.  His wife, Sarah, died in 1715.  The descendants are enumerated to the ninth generation.
